How to get to the Perisher Ski Resort

The Perisher Ski Resort can be reached by land and is just a 5 and hour drive from Sydney via the Cooma or Canberra route. It also takes 7 hours by land for those coming from Melbourne. For those living near the resort, they can enjoy the services of the Skitube.

The Skitube is the only underground railway in Australia. From Jindabyne the Skitube runs through 6 kilometers of mountain and ends at the Perisher Valley or at the Blue Cow. Tickets of the Skitube are available in Jindabyne and the Skitube station itself. Skiing season runs from July to August.

What to Expect at the Resort

The Perisher Ski resort has 49 lifts in total. The Village Eight Express is also available for guests to use. This is an 8 seater chairlift which includes four fixed grip quad chairlifts, four double chairlifts, ski carpets, and other boarder and skier moving devices. The runs at the Perisher Ski Resort are 18% for advanced skiers, 60% for intermediate skiers, and 22% for beginners.

Tips Before You Visit the Park

Most families would visit the Selwyn Snowfields or the Charlotte Pass Ski Resort, but the Perisher is considered as the ultimate family ski bonding destination. Whether youre a beginner or a pro, study the ski park first. Learn the mountains and know which slopes work best for you, its a massive skiing area so its better to know where to go to avoid being lost when you get there.

The ski park uses 271 snow guns which cover the entire resort since it has been experiencing drought since 2003. But even if snow seems to be controlled, always check the snow report at the Mountain Watch.
